I was born and raised in rural West Virginia and moved to Wisconsin in my forties. Later, I relocated to Virginia. Inevitably, as I go about my day-to-day activities, someone asks

“Do I detect a bit of an accent? What brought you here?”

Yes, you do.

And I’m still tryin’ to figure out how I got here.
